Published Author

One of my Christmas presents was a mug from my eldest daughter. Written on it is ‘Published author Est. 2022’. I am keeping it on my desk with a great sense of pride. I am a published author and my work is being read by not only friends and family but by a larger audience in many different countries. So, what now? Well, I still have much work to do in promoting A Bare Chronicle of Existence – Stories and Letters from Internment in Norway during WW1. I have mentioned before that I would like to see the book being sold in museums, especially maritime and naval museums, and war museums. I will be working with my publishers to try and make this happen. I would also like to start getting out into the public and speaking about the book and the story of HMS India and her men. I have put together a PowerPoint presentation and have all my archival materials ready to take to interested groups and share this story. I will also continue to try and find ways to get the story into other forms of media – film, television, documentaries. The other thing I will keep doing is blogging. It is a way of me sharing new discoveries and keeping my website active as well as keeping in touch with readers who are interested in the book and its subject matter.

However, whilst all this is going on, it is also time for me to return to my second book. Once again mining the rich seam of my husband’s family archives, my second book concerns Sir William Pearce 1st Baronet, and his wife and son. Sir William Pearce 1st Baronet was a wealthy shipbuilder and owner in the later part of the 19th century. He was a self-made millionaire who was an incredibly successful businessman but a man who had many secrets in his private life. His son, Sir William Pearce 2nd Baronet, followed closely in his footsteps. It is juicy, titillating stuff and is involving some deep detective work as both father and son went to great lengths to hide evidence of what occurred in their private lives. Unfortunately for them, time has meant that records are now more readily available and I am able to uncover more than they would have liked. I will be revealing more on my website https://www.rebeccaclarke-writer-speaker-researcher.info/
